Webbing – What is it?At Canyoneering101.com, I’ve selected a set of “essential” knots that provide the foundation or building blocks to knot-tying. Because what you tie does matter! In fact, it’s life or death based on if you tie these correctly or not!  Look at this list, similar to this website, in a linear way where you progress forward. It all starts with the Overhand knot.

Mastering (memorizing) these knots will give you a strong technical foundation for your canyoneering career – because that’s the whole point of this website!  Sure, there are hundreds of knots out there, but learning 40 of them won’t do you much good if you can’t confidently tie 10 of them when you need them most.
