21 Canyoneering Knots Overview
For Canyoneering101, I selected a smaller group of essential knots that build on one another. The goal is not to memorize every knot ever invented. The goal is to confidently tie the knots you actually need for a majority of the canyons in the Colorado Plateau of the United States.
THE BIG IDEA: Learning 40 knots does not help much if you cannot confidently tie the 10–13 you use most. Start with the building blocks, then progress in order.

PRACTICE: The knot chapter later in this book gives step-by-step photographs and usage examples. Practice until you can identify, tie, dress, and explain each knot you depend on. | ||
